Key not recognised

I have a 2012 Audi A7. When I press the start button I get the message key not recognised. I have tried the spare key, replaced the key reader and replaced the start stop button but the problem still remains. The car will start when I hold the key up to the key reader. Any idea what I could try next ?

I have changed the battery even tried different types but no good unfortunately

I'd recommend a diagnostic check if not done already. Could it be an imobilser fault? 

Definitely doesn't sound like a key issue if both keys doing it. 

On my A6 there's a key receiver. Could it be that.

Changed the key receiver also but problem still persists
