Good evening

Does anyone know a good independent garage that would change a starter(diagnosed by two separate garages including Audi)on a W12 in central belt of Scotland?

I have contacted most of the usual ones, AVW, Autohaus,, etc., but apparently the suspension and engine has to be dropped, special tools are mentioned, while some are short staffed and don’t want to tie up a ramp for a week.

Audi price would turn car into a breaker and far too good a car and condition for such a rare beast.

Any advice appreciated.

Sorry to hear of your situation, is it worth considering a garage further afield? I appreciate it's a massive inconvenience but I know this is something id consider.

Thanks for the reply and wouldn’t rule out anything or where as would like to get it back on the road but currently immobile so needs trailered

When ever I've needed cars trailered I use Shipley. It's run by the owners of eBay and it allows companies bid on your transport job whether that be a car or a sofa etc.

Thanks Steve,

May just accept the humongous Audi hit unless there is any good offers out there for an unmodified, genuine 04 A8 W12 with only 95k on the clock with history and only headlight advisories on last MOT!

Only proviso being it goes to an enthusiastic and back on road as too rare to allow to go extinct in a breakers yard.

They're certainly getting rare now. The problem is people often can afford to buy older Audi's but then struggle to pay the ongoing maintenance costs. So they then get scrapped.
