Hey there,

I bought a 2017 Audi Allroad the other day and i've just received the V5C doc, wherein it states that it is a B8. I'm confused as i thought Audi updated from the B8 to B9 in 2016. My Allroad, certainly looks like the new shape in front bumper (vertical slats) and interior but thought i'd ask here. Should i be concerned?

Bought from an Audi Dealer from where it was first registered , in case this helps.

Thanks.

Have you got a pic of it?

The grill, headlights and where the wingmirrors are situated are different from b8-b9 as per these pics.

Thanks for your reply. Hmm. Very strange. This is my grill. Looks like B9

Hello Jon,

It’s not that unusual for DVLA recorded information to be incorrect, particularly since it now depends on dealer entries - possibly by the borderline experienced.
Well worth asking the supplying dealer for a copy of the build record via. the VIN.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks Gareth. Good idea. I’ll do that.

Yep I'd say b9.

DVLA thought my previous B8 was an automatic 😀

Hi

Sorry am late to this.

My 2016 A4 2.0 Avant TDI is also registered as a B8 even though it is a B9 shape.  The sticker on the door pillar also stated it is a 'B8' and as on the V5.  This could be sticker errors on the first generation B9. When I first noticed this some 3 years ago, I did ask the Audi dealer to help get it changed but it didn't get anywhere so I have left it.

You'll need a letter from Audi to confirm the year of build and spec etc to get it changed with DVLA. Very odd Audi weren't willing to get this rectified

My 2016 Avant is equally as confusing!

It’s the new shape Sept2016 registered. So it’s the B9 officially.
But my V5 says B8.
The weightplate on the car says B8.5.

Never had any issues getting parts or anything like that but that may be luck!!

Sounds like there's quite a few incorrectly registered cars out there.
