Hi all.
I’ve had the belt snap on my 1.8t bfb cabriolet 2004 plate.
my question is, is this now a rebuild or realign and fit a new belt?
is it an interference engine or not ?
if the valves and guiders are snapped, it’s a binner.

Hi there, I believe from what you say there will definitely be valve and cylinder head damage. Bottom end damage possibly. Is it repairable?, yes. Is it worth repairing?, this depends entirely on what you are prepared to spend and what the car is worth to you personally. I guess for repair you maybe looking at £1500+, just to give you some idea or you could look for a good used engine to drop in. Hope this may help some.

Thank you Steve.
I only just got an email re this thread 🙄

I was hoping it would be a non interference engine so new belt and off it goes.
the engine code is bnb I think so was hoping for a definite answer

I can get a donor engine for £300 and save the trouble

from what I’ve been told, the top end smashes before the bottom end

cheers
