Audi a4 b8 2014 fault code PO401

Hi all 

engine management light has just come on put the code reader on and its coming up with codes 

PO401 and Po401P 

after googling the code problem seems to be EGR valve 

is it a case of replacing the EGR valve or could it be something else causing the codes ?

any advice appreciated before i take to a garage

Egr valve failure is common. It's not a cheap job. You could try and get it cleaned but this may only rectify the issue for a short time.
