haggis_ Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Recently bought an A4 Avant Quattro, perfect service history and well looked after at 73,000 miles. 2 months in with limited miles and I get an AdBlue fault and CEL on dash. Car is now in with Audi needing the AdBlue tank replaced, thankfully the car had a few months left on approved used warranty so is covered. After researching it seems like such a common issue. Does the new part have the 2 year part warranty? Love the car but it was bought for trips down to Europe and this is not filling me with confidence.
Steve Q Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 It is a very common issue on vag cars as well as other manufacturers. My wife has a jaguar xe and it's also known for faults. Hence why in our case we get Jag tecs to fill the adblue tank up when it need it with genuine adblue. That way they can't blame us for over filling it or putting wrong fluid in it etc. It has saved us expensive bills twice when the system has gone wrong and Jag have had to drain the tank and reset the system FOC. Even though the car is well out of warranty.
Zibi Posted February 4, 2023 Posted February 4, 2023 @haggis_ did you get your car repaired? How long dit it take?

So car has been off the road at Audi for 5 weeks now. Luckily we have a little run around but I was hoping to get rid or scrap it soon as its on its way out. I've been pretty patient with the dealer, not their fault and not much to be done, my only issue with them is that it's impossible to get through to the service advisor. I've literally called over 30 times to be told I'd get a call back but that never happens. Feeling annoyed, I rang today and made a fuss, which is unlike me! I finally received a call back and was informed parts are still on back order. As I've been patient they are trying to sort me out with a loaner until this is all sorted, I'd normally refuse but this time I'll take it and enjoy it.

GavinC Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Hi,I have similar problem appear today - Adblue saying 650 miles and the emissions control warning light on amber. I have it booked in with a local garage Thurs to run through diagnostics however he didn’t sound too optimistic when I explained the fault. Anyone have any ideas what kind of cost I could be looking at? 🙈

However it's covered if you have a warranty.
GavinC Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 It’s being looked at today to have diagnostic but strangely yesterday the Adblue warning changed to 4500 mile until refill, then this morning the engine management light and Adblue warning both went off. Then on way to dropping at garage the 650 miles warning came on again but the engine mgt light remained off!(?). Do you think this sounds like a sensor fault? Cheers

Cheers Yeah sounds like the sensor in the tank, same thing happened to me. The fault would show on the dashboard disappear and then eventually it came back and stayed on.

GavinC Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Spoke to garage briefly this morning and code has come back real-time to the heater in the tank. Is this different to the sensor?
Norman Plonker Posted April 15, 2023 Posted April 15, 2023 I have had this problem with a 3.2 diesel A4 AllRoad, in spite of filling it right up. Taken it to an independent VAG specialist who says that I need a new sensor. However, the new sensor would need to work with a new pump and they don't make the integrated pump and tank any more so I would have to renew the whole system: parts, fitted, programmed = £2500. Parts not currently available. Or... I could disconnect it and use the car and decided on this. Was rung back to say that it now gives 310bhp as opposed to the original 218! Cost around £300. Result. Someone suggested that this was the state of the car industry: no one is selling new cars because of the confusion over electric cars so they need to make money on spares. They therefore update spares so a whole unit has to be fitted, rather than what you need. That's how they're making their money.
Gooders Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 I have got this snag now. Bag com says pump fault. Any update on spares ?

Hi no if you look at the dynamics of SCR the adblue only converts the Nox particles from one to two the addition of a 80% water solution into the steam makes the oil soot particles sticky and harder to burn, I am thinking of having mine deleted and there is nothing wrong with my system the car is now on its third EGR cooler which like the others was blocked with adblue crystals and a sticky tar like mess that hasn't been burned properly and at about £900 every fifteen months is bordering on stupid, the thing that screws the DPF is if you have theEGR mapped out as that allows the gas to be a lot hotter and start to melt the Turbo Steve.
Stevey Y Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 20 hours ago, Gooders said: May be worth a look then. Would it show on mot etc ? Hi no as there is no plan to introduce Nox testing equipment in to the MOT test because the world of government thinks we are all going to be charging around in electric cars in another seven years, where's the charging infrastructure. Steve.
Balders Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 Yep mine has just gone on my A4 B9 83,000 repair £2300 won’t be buying another Audi. Shame really like the car.

Hi depending on when you purchased the car you can go to trading standards and they may pick up the flag and petition them under the fit for purpose act, Audi wont care but if you also email VAG customer service they may well help you as they are not fans of this type of thing, I did the same last year when one of their approved franchise TPS were running me ragged over a part, the car was suspended on a four poster ramp for four days waiting for the part which was already paid for and was suddenly on back order three weeks so I emailed VAG customer services and explained my problem and dissatisfaction, the next day the part arrived with a red faced area manager who demanded to know who Steve was, the guy that put in the complaint, I stepped straight up and explained why, he went for the sympathy vote saying how much trouble I caused him, my heart bled for him not, VAG take things like this seriously its bad PR for them.
