my 2014 q5 sline 2.0 tdi rear hatch had occasional lift and close problems

it does lock/unlock but now it will not lift at all.

pushing it open by hand is a pain and cant be doing the struts any good

my wife is wheelchair bound so i keep the wheel chair in the boot all the time

could this in anyway affect the open and close.

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up.

It could be the lift motor.

i thought i would try the tailgate today using the fob, lo and behold it opened and lifted to the fully open position, first time in months ( but it would not shut),

so at least i know  the lift motor works. A bit of extra info, the car has stood for a very long time and not used much by previous owner, its a 2014 model with only 15000 on the clock.

i have bought a diagnostic tester but as yet have not located the 16 pin socket

its above the pedals ( i am told) will use a mirror tomorrow .

Thanks for the suggestion Steve

You're welcome. The socket will be hidden under the dash and may have a cover protecting it.
