I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. It could be the lift motor.

A bit of extra info, the car has stood for a very long time and not used much by previous owner, its a 2014 model with only 15000 on the clock. i have bought a diagnostic tester but as yet have not located the 16 pin socket its above the pedals ( i am told) will use a mirror tomorrow . Thanks for the suggestion Steve
Steve Q Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 You're welcome. The socket will be hidden under the dash and may have a cover protecting it.
