Danni F Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 I have an ‘10 plate and recently had the tyre pressure light appear - no problem, done the tyre pressures etc but Im struggling to reset the light. I have tried the following: - Reset through the dash menu (button on the underside of the wiper switch) - tyre system doesn’t appear at all. - My model doesn’t have an MMI so nothing on the centre console. - There’s not a button in the glove box or under the steering wheel nor is there a button on the centre console - Have increased all the tyres to 36 psi and this hasn’t reset it. (Was told by an Audi Dealership that ‘this is what you’re meant to do’) - Have plugged into a universal computer, it registers the TPMS but won’t let me access it any further. Basically Im at my wits end 🤣 my next go to is unplugging the battery (pending radio code!) but following that would be taking it to an Audi specialist or booking it into my local Audi which is looking to be £80… just to plug it in.. which I don’t want to do as I’ve phoned 5 different dealerships in the same chain and each one’s told me something different! One even said my car shouldn’t have TPMS whilst I stared at the TPMS light. Any suggestions appreciated but feel like I’ve probably exhausted them all!
Steve Q Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 I'd recommend a more sophisticated diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. It could be a failing sensor.
Solution cliffcoggin Posted February 25, 2023 Solution Posted February 25, 2023 If the car genuinely has a TPMS there must be a reset switch or menu item. Therefore either you have not found the reset, or there is no TPMS and the warning light is false.

They’ve not managed to find the issue either, there’s no fault on the car or a manual reset for the TPMS

I’ve exhausted every possibility and so have an approved Audi service garage, there’s nothing available anywhere on the car to manually reset this, if it was there I would have found it by now. For an Audi dealership to have said to me that they didn’t know my car came with TPMS, it’s possible that the light is false. Im still having the issue and 2 mechanics (one Audi ant the service garage and one Mercedes - a family member) have had a look around the car to no avail.
Steve Q Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 How strange. Please keep us posted on how you get on at Audi.
cliffcoggin Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 A possible explanation has occurred to me. A3s are prone to faults in the instrument cluster that usually result in the lights failing or flickering, and the instruments to fail. Perhaps such a cluster fault is causing the otherwise unused TPMS light to illuminate. I am no electrician so maybe I am talking nonsense, therefore I too am keen to hear the final diagnosis.

The issue is still persisting, I have got into contact with someone who’s had the same issue - they even knew my problem before I explained it! They supposedly had a recall on theirs when it was sent out a few years ago (this would have been prior to me owning mine) and they took it to Audi for it to be ‘fixed’ however there was no documentation or receipt for this work (weird) I have been trying to contact my local Audi dealer for weeks to speak to someone but they’re either all busy or don’t care to listen to women about cars! At this point i might just leave it as there’s nothing visibly wrong or an issue with my tyres…
Steve Q Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 That's an annoying experience with Audi. I find going into the dealer often gets a better experience
cliffcoggin Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 As you sound knowledgable enough about tyres to know when a tyre is losing pressure by the way it looks or handles, it probably doesn't matter whether you have a TPMS or not, except for the irritation of a false warning light, though that in itself would annoy me enough to do something about it. If the fault was the subject of a recall I doubt Audi will be keen to take on the job without a lot of pressure. You may be better served by an independant.
Audipro3000 Posted September 23, 2023 Posted September 23, 2023 I was trying to help a friend for this same issue I ended up plugging in my OBDelevn diag and turned the light off through the cars computer. 1
Danni F Posted October 12, 2023 Author Posted October 12, 2023 I have tried plugging it into computers - one at a garage who specialise in Audi’s and a second with a universal one. The issue still exists… Audi Marshall customer service is awful. But the computer(s) doesn’t take me any further than the menu regarding the tyres. I’d be interested to know where you bought your OBDelevn?
