Conorc1983
Good afternoon all! I’m wondering can i ask your advice. I bought an a6 c6 3.0 TDI Quattro for a bargain. The only fly in the ointment is that the radio, screen and button are all completely dead. I’ve checked some fuses (but not entirely sure which ones to check - I’ve checked a 30a fuse in the boot and replaced just in case it was bad.) when I took out the left hand boot liner I saw this which I see is the amp and the other parts I’m not sure. When I disassembled this, I was greeted with this so I’m wondering if anyone can advise on what else I should check. And also if these other random boxes are actually needed. I also got a vcds scan done which I’ll attach too! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Steve Q
I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Alternatively get an Audi specialist or auto electrican to take a look
Conorc1983
Hi Steve. I have had it plugged into the vcds and it shows the following I’ve just ordered some of the fibre loopback connectors to start from there
Steve Q
Might be worth ordering a second hand head unit but bare in mind it might need coding to the car
Conorc1983
Another quick update folks. I was in the engine bay doing some servicing last night when I noticed the plenum drain completely blocked and a pool of water sat there stagnant. After I cleared that and cleared the drain, I thought some of the water may have seeped through the firewall to the components. when I removed the MMI / CD player in the glove box, the 10amp fuse in the back of the unit looked rusted. So I replaced it and plugged it back in and SUCCESS!!!! Everything powered back on!! So I’ve basically left a heater in there today to try and dry parts out. While it wasn’t saturated, it was a little damp. hopefully this helps someone!
Steve Q
Wow thanks for the update. Audi's love to let water in that way.
