Hi All,

I have a 2007 A4 1.9tdi.

A few days ago I topped up my power steering fluid but accidentally used a bottle of fluid I had for my wife's car which wasn't the correct Audi spec.

Now, not 4 or 5 days later and no more than ~250 miles driven my pump is squealing if I turn the wheel while stationary. When driving or if I rev the engine while stopped it won't make noise, but at idle it does.

I bought the correct fluid, disconnected the return line to the reservoir and flushed about 0.5L of fluid through the pump before reconnecting, filling and bleeding the system but unfortunately it made no difference.

Have a really worn out the pump so quickly? Is there anything else I can try?

Many thanks in advance!!

Hi try Lucas power steering fix, it won't fix the wear in the pump but it will shut it up, used it on my cabs a good few times it even stops any leaks on the rack, when you change the fluid you are supposed to leave the cap off of the reservoir and while stationary turn the wheel from lock to lock about ten times to get the air out then leave it overnight with the cap off to let it all out, also check the reservoir while running if the fluid is like a fire hose inside the reservoir the filter is knackered and will cause the fluid to foam which is air it should be a gentle swirl.
