Hi.

Can anyone confirm the service intervals on a 2018 67 plate Audi Q7 TDI V6 with approx 42k on the clock.

The Dealer claims its got FSH (2 Audi services) and the next service is now due which they will get done at a local indy.

Is that right as I keep reading mixed reviews of if it's LL servicing like my BMW or if its yearly / 10k?

Hello Lee,

As you say, it’s been on a Longlife service schedule which is likely to have resulted in it being serviced around 18k miles and 36k - so yes, it would be due again now.

Have you requested, and seen, a print out of the service history?
Are they now going to renew the air and pollen filters at this service they are going to do - also the brake fluid.
I guess this engine runs on a chain rather than a belt - ?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi magnet, thanks for the reply.

I wasn't sure if LL was right as when I tried to look online it was suggesting yearly oil changes etc.

I haven't seen a print yet, the seller just said its had 2 services at audi and the 3rd is due.

I thought all of the Q7 were chain driven?

Hello Lee,

If you work on the principle that sellers say anything about service history until you ask to see the evidence, then you need to see the evidence!
Have you studied the on-line MOT history?
Is the seller an Audi dealership?
If not, the pre-sales service usually equals an oil and filter change.
You are right - this comparatively low annual mileage vehicle should have been on an annual service schedule, but it’s obviously been on the cheaper option service schedule.

Probably company owned or ex PCP. Do you know-?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi Magnet.

I have now seen the SH and it's going to get a full service including filters and  brake fluid at an Audi specialist with database access and i'll cover the difference.

I have checked the MOTs online and happy they confirm the mileage.  Only ever had advisories for tyres.

It's been privately owned by 2 people and for sale at an independent dealer.

Thanks Lee,

‘Only ever had advisories for tyres’.

Just saying it as I see it - careful owners respect their tyres and don’t present cars for MOT’s with tyres near the limit. Obviously I don’t know what the wording actually says, but if there were repeated references to uneven tyre wear then that would ring some bells with me.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Just to add my 2 pence worth, you're right the engine is chain driven. As such hear out for any chain rattle on start up.

Has the quattro system been serviced?

Has the gearbox been serviced?

Just wondering if you have bought it yet Lee.

Gareth.

I'm used to listening out for chain rattle coming from BMW's.  Is it an issue for the Q7?

No gearbox service..  my understanding is Audi say sealed for life but recommended oil and filter change at 60k or 8 years whichever is sooner?

Is the Q7 Haldex usual dif oil changes?

In relation to the Auto box am I right that Audi say sealed for life but recommended oil and filter change at 60k or 8 years whichever is sooner?  Or have I got the miles / time wrong?

As for the quattro systems what servicing does it need?  With my X5 I just had the diff oil changed every 40k.

The 3.0tdi can have cam issues or did on the A6 C6 era.

At least the gearbox is ok for a little while yet.

Yep it should require an oil change.
