alpha omega Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 hi,the car is running a bit rough on idle and poor fuel economy, but fine while driving apart from a vibration from the rear right when seeting off in 1st gear.can anyone advise as to wether this should be left to a specialist to remove and clean the injectors and have the seals replaced. ? as always any advice grateful👍stephen
Steve Q Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 I guess it depends how handy you are with the spanners. As I personally would always leave it to a professional. Have you done a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
alpha omega Posted May 14, 2023 Author Posted May 14, 2023 hi steve, sorry i should have said.yes, and no fault codes i was just leaning towards injectors as i have high mileage.i have read on here people having faults with different things on their cars and not having any fault codes come up.i know its guess work without a reading.if i was to go down the rd of injectors then yes i will leave it to the professionals then as i am not that handy with spanners.regards stephen
Steve Q Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Is it smoking on start up? I ask as mine was (before I blew it up) and I had a suspicion it was the injector seals that had failed. No fault codes and she ran fine.

Steve Q Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Sorry for the delayed reply. Could this be a dpf issue?

alpha omega Posted May 21, 2023 Author Posted May 21, 2023 update put the car back together still 2500rpm at standstill took it for an italian tune up.it gave power when needed but no higher than just over 3000rpm still powerful enough but not the 4500 i used to have at standstill.still no codes.no warning lights on dashboard.i will have to look into what steve Q has mentioned the dpf as i have symptons of low power, bit of black smoke from exhaust, diesel fuel odour in the cabin, reduced fuel economy.i thought audi may have picked up on this on thursday the 18th of may as i asked for a health check on the engine. pleased audi realised about the timing though phew..

Love that, not heard the Italian tune term for a long time! Yea as I say I'd consider issue with dpf or even egr. 1

Stevey Y Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 2 hours ago, alpha omega said: strange revs have come back now. knowing my luck not for long lol Hi Steve, the car won't rev above 2500 standing because it has a built in rev limiter to stop that sort of activity and the moronic element from smashing the granny out of the cam belt and valve gear, it ain't like the old days where some used to get a kick out of listening to valve gear bounce and compression rings chattering, the whole process works on reciprocal force I.E. weight counterforce against the driven speed of the engine, the two forces balance each other out. Steve.
