If you can fit a full size wheel (perhaps deflated) into the spare wheel well, then a space saver would fit as it's much narrower.

However, if a full size inflated wheel fits, then perhaps look at a 235/70R16 tyre fitted to a 7Jx16 ET39 5/112 66.6 steel rim (from Audi A4 2007-2015).

A 16" spare wheel will only fit over the narrowest 300x12mm rear brake discs, and perhaps not even the smallest 318x30mm front brake discs (although you might want to check this point yourself). However, when a space saver is used it's normally fitted to the rear, so as a get you home measure, fitting the much bigger 235/70R16 to the rear shouldn't be a problem...unless the rear brake discs are bigger than the smallest 300x12mm size.

The advantage in using the 7Jx16 ET39 5/112 66.6 steel rim, is that it is cheap...and the 235/70R16 tyre isn't a particularly expensive size.

For comparison, the standard 235/65R17 and 235/60R18 tyre sizes both use an 8J rim with an ET39 offset...and these rims are only available in far more expensive aluminium.

As you can see in the chart below, the 235/70R16, 235/65R17, and 235/60R18 tyre sizes all have about the same outside diameter.

Outside diameter of tyres

235/70R16 735.4mm

235/65R17 737.3mm

235/60R18 739.2mm
