A3 starting issue

Hi,

I have a 57 A3- dreaded BXE Engine. 

To start the car I have to put the clutch down...... now sometimes with the clutch down the car won't start.

I thought I would be a clutch switch however after looking under the footwell they do not appear to be there. If I hold the clutch down and try to start and wiggle the car softy it starts.

Loose wire ?

Anyone had similar?

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up
