Hiya people,

Quick or maybe not so quick one.

I recently did my timing belt and changed the front crank seal at the same time as there was a slight leak from that area.

Well despite my positive post the other day it seems I still have the leak but a little worse than before.

When I changed the front seal there was what appeared to me a machined depressed ring in the crankshaft. It appeared too precise to be damage from a seal and also too deep..

Is this an intentional piece of machining does anyone know? Wondering if I’ve just got a poor quality seal and should get a VAG one with housing or if the groove in the shaft is something more sinister….

looks like it’s coming apart again regardless 🤬

thanks
