Hello,

In brief the power steering lost all its hydraulic fluid and thus no steering, made it home onto my driveway, just.

My mechanic visited my house to inspect and observed that the hydraulic reservoir for the power steering was empty.  He filled it up and drove it 10 minutes to his forecourt to get it on the ramps and see what was going on.

He then called up saying that he does not have the knowledge (time) to perform fix nor does his more experienced mechanic want to go near it.  He said the best way forward would be to get Audi to fix it at their exorbitant rates.

Due to my hearing disability I cannot hear mechanical warnings - I have been asked 'did it make this or that noise' as ignoring it would then lead to catastrophic problems, like what I have now.. well, I cant hear the warnings! The car's leather barely broken in, everything works beautifully, cherished; even the metallic paintwork has no circular scratch marks from hand-washing.  Now I am faced with the prospect of sending it to the car morgue for scrap which is something I do not wish to do!  Can anybody in the Basingstoke area assist?
