Mrisir Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Hi All, I've just been doing my service planning for my new audi A4 B9. It's a diesel automatic. I have done some research online and found that the recommended times for the service items are: Gear Box oil: First one after 35k miles Then every 40k after that Brake fluid: Every two years Pollen filter: Every 20k miles or two years Oil and filter: Every 10k miles or 1 year Fuel filter: Every 20k Miles or 2 years Cambelt and water pump Audi say 120k miles. But generally suggested is Every 5 years or 50k Miles (to include Aux belt and rollers also) Engine air filter: Every 55k miles Pollen cabin filter: Every 20k Miles of 2 years Battery Every 7 years Do these look correct? Are there any items you would suggest getting done earlier/later? Thanks!

Rob G Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 Re the cam belt timing. My car registered in Sept 2017 is currently in with a specialist for some work. As part of the inspection they flagged getting the belt done as we’re coming up on five years. When I mentioned this to the supplying dealers (car supermarket that sounds like another German car brand) that I was surprised that this work hadn’t been carried out prior to putting the car on sale to me less than two months ago, they said the following (I’ll paraphrase). Belt replacement is ‘recommended’ at five years or 140,000 miles so they would not fund or assist with cost of replacement. When I suggested that I was sceptical that they would honour a warranty claim (I have three years warranty on the car) if the belt let go, they agreed that it was unlikely they would do so. Bit of a Catch 22 situation. TLDR I’m replacing the belt to be on the safe side.

When I got mine I asked for them to get it done but it was last done in 2021 (there was an audi dealership receipt for it) so they didn’t do it.

They say that replacement is only ‘recommended’ but when asked about the likelihood of honouring a warranty claim linked to the cambelt they agree that they will most likely reject it if the recommended schedule isn’t followed.

Definitely a catch 22. amazing you mention big motoring group, I was going to buy an Audi from them. They told me it was full service history (2016 model only had two stamps once I checked!). But that wasn’t the most crazy thing, when I asked if they would do a service they first said they only do services if the last service was done over a year ago or 12k miles ago…well the last service on the car I was looking at was over 2 years ago so I asked them to do the service then they responded saying they wont do it (no reason given). Literally walked away, I do not trust them at all.
willie6671 Posted September 3, 2023 Posted September 3, 2023 My 2017 A4 1.4tfsi 57k was just serviced by the official Audi Dealer, no mention of Timing belt required. In Northern Ireland these is only 1 official dealer. They stated the in July 2023 a Service bulletin release on timing belt intervals.The 5yr timeframe has been removed and it's now mileage limited ie 80k for my model My advice would be to phone your local official Audi Dealer and see what they say.

Mine is a 2.0TDI Ultra. IIRC the mileage interval is 140k. Have heard that EU dealers don’t quote years and only mileage now. Unfortunately, the decision is now moot as I’m taking the ‘safety first’ option and getting the belt and pump changed as the car is on finance and I don’t want to risk a further warranty claimed getting binned off if the belt failed. FWIW the Mondeo I came from had a 10 year / 120k interval for the belt so I am inclined to think the longevity has improved over the years.
