Lukman Matadar Posted October 24, 2023 Posted October 24, 2023 Hi All, My car has started to give gearbox issues unfortunately. The symptoms were at the start that I was driving on a long journey from near Peterborough to Blackburn, when on the M60 the car started jerking from the front and loosing power. As I drove further, the problem worsened and the car was loosing power further., so I pulled up at the hard shoulder and decided to unpower and car for a few minutes. After starting the car again, the problem was still there but gradually got worse and eventually lost momentum and did not want to move. The engine revs fine in park. At this point, I got the car recovered to a garage. The following day the car drove absolutely fine but the diagnostic stated the below P1764:00/05988:000 Passive/Sporadic Transmission temperature Monitoring I decided to go to the garage and drive the car when a few miles down the M65 the car started jerking from the front again, so much that I have to drive the car back to the garage at less than 10 mph (seems like the problem gets worse as the car heats up). The mechanic had a further look and pulled another fault code, P1743:00/05955:000 Active/Static Clutch Slip Monitoring, Signal too high Can anyone help me out what the solution may be, or does anyone know where I can a gearbox for it? I am checking eBay and the usual places but being on a specialist forum maybe you peeps know something better? I appreciate I may have to purchase another gearbox which is a solution or get this to a specialist repair centre where it will cost too much to repair for an old car like mine. Already been quoted approx. £2k for repair if this is a clutch issue. Please please can anyone help? Also, does the gearbox have to fully match up with a replacement, ie does the WWO 5 need to match up also and the T at the end of 01J301 383 T? Regards, L. Matadar
serj Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Hi, I have the same problem after changing my gearbox did you find a solution?
Lukman Matadar Posted June 26 Author Posted June 26 Hi, after taking the gearbox to a specialist, I was told an internal casing for the gearbox had cracked which meant the clutch had fried and the chain had moved out of position also. According to the specialist, too much damage done. Following this event the gearbox specialist pointed out an the gearbox on eBay I should purchase. The most painful part about this is that after fitting this second hand gearbox £500 to fit this also proved that the clutch was slipping on it as well. Although I have done approximately 15,000 miles on this second hand clutch, the problem is when I am on a uphill and moving from idle position it jerkrs very badly or sometimes it doesn't make it. Living in a valley doesn't really help. The point I'm making here is if you are going to purchase a second-hand gearbox make sure you get it tested which can be difficult if it's not mounted on a car. The way to test the clutch is on a incline make sure it doesn't jerk when going up. Hope this helps. 1
