Paul Livesey Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 Lost power steering completely. I discovered that the power steering pump had completely failed. It was receiving it's main power from the battery directly and the ignition derived power was also present. My diagnostic computer could not communicate with the ECU (J500) that is part of the pump which meant that I could not read the programming code on that ECU. I ordered and fitted a new pump which restored power steering but the steering fault warning light would not go out. This is due to me not being able to read the original pump code and then program it into the new pump ECU. I have access to a VCDS computer and also own a Snap On diagnostic computer, both of which can put the correct code in when I have it. Does anyone have an idea as to how I get that original code or have a list of possible codes that I can try?
