Good morning,

I will be replacing the balance shaft with the upgraded version, along with a new oil pump, I have received the new pump, but it hasn't come with any gaskets, I can't find a definitive answer on Google etc, would it need gaskets or is sealant used on the machined faces, any help is much appreciated

Thanks

Mike

Hello Mike,

Did you buy this as a genuine VAG part?
If so, it’s usual that the gasket is available as a separate part.
Even if it is an aftermarket part, I think the only positive way forward would be enquire about a gasket by visiting your nearest Audi dealer Parts. Dept.
Perhaps you can come back to us with an update.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi it is an aftermarket part, gaskets don't seem to be listed anywhere for the oil pump that I can see, I will give audi parts dept a try and update with the outcome

Thanks

So finally got around to sorting this been very busy with work for the past few months, the oil pump and the balance shaft cradle both have machined mating faces with no gaskets, I have also replaced the balance shaft with a kmb uprated version, and as you can see in the photos the oil pick up had a good amount of sealant clogging it up!!!

So fingers crossed when it all goes back together , no low oil pressure warning , if it is still there it means the engine is badly worn which I just don't have the  time to delve into.....20240211_181332.thumb.jpg.58f95dfebfb3fac8d18e93466d95ec2d.jpg20240211_180549.thumb.jpg.5c6e8a4b05e0db822b91acd2d2c3a414.jpg20240211_180546.thumb.jpg.f9416dcb34228d82f85e4d7eeb7cbb4d.jpg20240211_163958.thumb.jpg.0f6dbac5c057f0614c39a16912fc136c.jpg20240211_172303.thumb.jpg.06896c207a6bbaa11bc95e3946738370.jpg20240211_174839.thumb.jpg.aec8220e7228c19aa219703b0f37a04c.jpg20240211_174843.thumb.jpg.43558fa1f411b9eca991ddc4257b52ca.jpg20240211_175916.thumb.jpg.db5a2b85577fca1627750de393932770.jpg

So I took the old oil pump apart, its pretty worn/scored/pitted

Out of interest would anyone have the tolerances for the oil pump? 20240212_082730.thumb.jpg.6a464a3d40d2a324812962e91db260bb.jpg20240212_082807.thumb.jpg.95d4de3f190a2e2e5e4f92e936399bd1.jpg20240212_082810.thumb.jpg.5e27087922b72f11e424663aaefdb908.jpg20240212_082759.thumb.jpg.f9dee3bee8ecb992bd03f106053c5242.jpg20240212_082744.thumb.jpg.feee1810eba4eab7803771fac2039876.jpg?
