JRDN.DMND
Hi everyone, I have an Audi A3 8P Sportback 2012 and have started to have a recurring issue of the engine cutting out when the revs drop below 1000 revs. It initially started when trying to reverse off my drive but now it has started to happen when actually driving and changing gear. For example yesterday I was changing from 2nd into 3rd and the car engine shut off at about 30 mph. When dipping the clutch to change gear the revs dropped under 1000 and instantly shut off causing the steering wheel to have steering lock and then it restarted itself and the ‘brake failure’ warning message came on. However once the engine has been running for about 10 minutes this issue completely disappears. Surely it can’t be a cold engine as this is a dangerous side effect from a cold engine if you ask me. Has this happened to anyone else in the past as it has started to become a much more dangerous issue now that is happening at higher speeds and not just in instances like reversing or parking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
cliffcoggin
Jordan. That is not normal behaviour for a cold engine. In other words you need to get it diagnosed and repaired. The possible causes are too numerous to list here.
Steve Q
As cliff has suggested I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Otherwise we're guessing. But could be issue with maf sensor, lambda sensor etc.
