David Chan Posted December 8, 2023 Posted December 8, 2023 My car has done about 75K miles and was bought in 2016. I have an engine management light come on, and my insurance company gives me a dongle that I plug into the OBD port. The faults codes are P2006 and P0671 (this comes up twice) P2006 is to do with the diesel particulate filter. I do a lot of motorway driving but only use the car 3 days a week. (70 miles / day, for 3 days, zero miles rest of week) Initially the fault went away as I got the car into higher RPM to burn off the soot. Initially it only had P2006. Now it comes up with P2006 and P0671. The latter is glow plugs but the glow plug indicator does not come up on the dash. The DPF is worrying me as its very costly. Any tips or suggestions on how to manage this. The car is due for a service and my mechanic said that they will try and burn off the soot. I remember after a long motorway journey after I locked the car the fan would be on, and I would smell a burning smell. Last time this happened was about 5-6 months ago, maybe the weather was warmer and the car needed to cool down. Or was this the soot burning process? If it is, then perhaps there is a fault in the software that is not burning the soot after the engine is off which is why I am getting this error? Many thanks.
