Notchy steering

Hi all, my apologies if this has been covered before. 
I have a 2018 A3 Sportback manual gearbox and I have noticed my steering has become very vague over 50mph with only what I can describe as “notchy” feel to it.  
Anyone any ideas what this might be ?

A first place to start would be to see the condition of your battery.

Also, is this a problem you see?

Check tyre wear and pressures.

Could also be an issue with the rack.
