MMI problem playing audio from SD cards

When I play audio from an SD card on my 2016 A3 it doesn't remember where it has got to, so every time I re-start the car it starts from the first track again. It has always been like this.

I mostly make short journeys so only ever get to hear the first few tracks - and I'm getting fed up with them!  It remembers where it is on CDs OK.

Any ideas about solving this would be most welcome.

Have you done a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up on the mmi?

I don't know how. I guess it needs diagnostic equipment to do that.   I have just noticed that it does remember where it is for a couple of hours, but then presumably loses it when the other functions of the car like trip milage and average MPG reset.

Odd though as the trip reset etc shouldn't have an impact on the mmi.
