Hammie1982 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Gentlemen and Ladies, Theres about 220 thousand Kilometres on my 09 A8 TDI Quatro. Ive only owned it since December and was thinking about the Gearbox and possible issues and how to extend the life of the box. I was thinking as I am going to get a full service done on the car soon anyway, it might be worth doing a service on the gearbox aswell. I have been told they should have an oil change every 100k miles or so ( seems excessive milage to be tho) but im wondering what you would recommend for a gearbox service? Also i have noticed on cold start that there is a ticking for about 3 / 4 seconds coming from the engine. Am I correct in saying this is the Oil pump thats taking a few seconds to come up to pressure? If it is, is a standard replacement advised or is there a more efficient pump that it can be changed to? Whats involved in the oil pump replacement? Is that an engine out kind of job or just done in situ?
