MWoods79 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 Hello, new to the site and not wanting to start off on a criticism of Audi, I do love my A5, but recently had it called back by Audi to check the cam shaft adjuster. It is 3.5 years old and past its warranty, so when they offered to replace the ENGINE for free, I was wondering why? Had my courtesy A5 for 3 weeks now whilst the local dealer dealt with Audi. Just got back to me to say no longer needed a new engine (bit disappointed). This was despite the same practice for the same manufacturer problem with other customers in the previous 12 months....problem fixed and no evidence of damage (despite previous comment by the dealer that finding the missing bearings would be like 'finding a needle in a haystack'). He admitted that replacement engines have cost Audi a fortune of late. I am now left pondering why other customers with the same problem had new engines fitted, but my car doesn't? Anyone had simile issues? Cant find anything online... About to pick my car back up now. Do I insist on a letter from Audi declaring the engine fit for purpose as cover for future problems? Unsure of my legal rights on this one, if any, and a bit disappointed I didn't get a new engine when others with the same problem have. Any suggestions?
