I have just taken delivery of a new A4 Avant 40 TFSI S line and have just joined this forum so don’t know if my query has already been discussed  apologies if it has.  Not driven it much yet but it is noticeable that in town driving over some but not all drain covers/potholes I get a distinct rear end noise which sounds like the boot floor bouncing.  It isn’t the floor as I’ve taken it out and it still happens.  Not on every bump in the road causes this but quite often.  Has anyone else noticed this and if so is it a suspension problem?  It’s going in the dealers next week but I’d like to know of others experiences before being fobbed off - not that an Audi dealer would do such a thing.  Thanks.

Thanks Jason.  I’ll have a look at this this morning and report back.

I’ve had a look under the floor at the back of the car.  The battery certainly seems very secure and I couldn’t move it.  The only thing that possibly moves is the tray that contains the little tool kit.  It is secured with a plastic cover which is screwed down but could be moved.  It doesn’t seem to have sufficient weight to cause the noises I’ve been hearing but I hope to try driving later today with this tray taken out and see what it’s like. Watch this space.

Hi Jason, Sorry for the delay.  The car has been in Efficiency for most if not all of the time.  Do you think trying the others might make a difference?

The car has been back to the local dealer today and it didn’t take them long to spot that the suspension hadn’t been properly adjusted after delivery.  I’m not aware of the technical terms but after the suspension is secured for transport, the securing blocks should be removed and other ’bits’ (sorry I don’t know the proper term) properly adjusted.  The dealer who handled the car and did the release checks obviously didn’t get this right.  30 minutes up on the ramp at my local dealer and a quick drive and all seems OK.

Thanks Jason for your thoughts.  I hope this is of help to anyone having similar problems.
