Sheffield Col Posted March 9, 2024 Posted March 9, 2024 The main beam is not working on Audi A3 S line, also the " Head lamp flasher" is not working. I have been told it's because the wrong head lamp's have been fitted. Can any one tell me is this is a possible cause and if so which head lamps do I need. Thank You.

Jasonj Even if you are trying to fit an H4 bulb in to an H7 mounting, the mountings are completely different and so are the connections, one uses twin prong connections and the other uses try prong connections, while you are there why not think of something else he can buy as an ornament.

Hi Colin it would be better to establish if these are original headlights or retrofit/aftermarket, the way to do this is inspect the top of the units with the bonnet up, if they are factory there will be a sticker on top with the part code if thats present it may well be as simple as a wiring fault, please post some pictures that would be a great help. Sheffield Col Posted March 11, 2024 Author Posted March 11, 2024 Hi, many thanks for the replies, the car is not actually mine, it belongs to my GF. I will have a look first chance I get and see what bulb's are fitted. 1

Hi Colin, if she is anything like my missus the nagging is off the Richter scale, please if possible post some pics, I imagine from your first post it could be something as simple as a bad earth. Sheffield Col Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 Sorry it's been a while but not had access to the car. the car. There is no stickers on the headlamps, so I think they are aftermarket. The main Beam will flash when the side lights are on, and when the switch is in the off position. But when switched to Automatic they will not come on but the Blue warning light comes on in the instrument panel.
Sheffield Col Posted December 15, 2024 Author Posted December 15, 2024 Hi Steve Q. Can you tell me where is the earthing located. Thank You.
Sheffield Col Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 Earthing is ok, will the headlights not work properly if they are aftermarket ? Or is there something else going on ?

Sheffield Col Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 From, spartacus 68. Has your girlfriend been using this car on dipped beam for a year? You posted originally in March '24! Hi yes, but not all the time her daughter has been using it most of the time. Will the head lights need coding ?
Hammie1982 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 If the headlights have been changed in the car due to accident, upgrade etc. Its very likely you will have to code the headlights to the car. has anyone checked fuses or even put a multimeter to the car to see if there is power getting to the right systems? That would be my first port of call after that, id be taking the car to someone who has the equipment to code things correctly and get it all coded in and checked out properly. A car without full beam capability will not pass mot inspections (if they are carried out correctly)
