Have you tried ‘LLLParts’ online? If you can’t find the part you’re looking for, (go thru the manufacturers/world area/model & year), then send them an enquiry.

they were very helpful when I was looking for a dipstick for my 2015 Allroad, (which has the tube but no dipstick, just the electronic level, which only works when the engines warm, so not much use for checking fluid levels before a journey!

Many thanks for your helpful suggestion Dave.

Regrettably, this is  just another example of meaningful/ helpful responses being offered into ‘thin air’.
The OP joined on the 5th April and posted his plea for (free) help - probably at the same time of the day. I responded on the same day by asking him a valid question, and today, you have again wasted your time in offering him a useful contact.
Fact:-

OP joins and posts plea for help on the same day. Help is offered on two occasions, but he cannot even be bothered to revisit the forum to read the responses, leave alone offer thanks for the help given. This equals:-

POST AND RUN ( no apologies for the caps).
Disrespectful, rude - call it what you may.
Anyway, Dave, many thanks for your help, and apologies for boring by saying it as it is.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks Gareth but No worries, I couldn’t see that he’d left or wasn’t active on here anymore, wouldn’t have responded.

Apologies for not replying , when signing in using a Google account no notifications are sent saying you have a reply, As I was desperately searching everywhere I had a personal message via Facebook and was in conversation with a person in Poland, had I got a notification I would have viewed, admin manged to send a email recently not sure if replies to posts are notified by email , any way just to confirm I visited Audi dealers in my area all of which said dipsick guide was obsolete, I brought another a different one then modified it to fit.

Regards

Peter

Oh, hadn’t realised that about google, I use a browser, which doesn’t have that issue.

but Yeah, Audi stopped fitting the dipsticks when they swapped using the electronic one, although some cars came with the tube until they changed the engine build spec. Mines a 2015, so that was built during the swap over.

i don’t like the electronic one and I’m an engineer!

Thank you for the explanation Peter, and due to your sign-on procedure, I now have doubts that you will even see this reply!

I think the lesson is that if it’s important enough an issue to seek advice on, then it’s well worth returning to that request source to see if any responses have actually been posted - irrespective of whether ‘some system’ advises you to do so or not.
Still…. ‘Onward and upward as we say.

Re. your interesting reference to buying a different one and modifying it, would you now be kind enough to share the part number of the one you bought, and what the necessary modification was.

I’m sure this information would be useful to others at some point in the future.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Peter, what model, year & engine was this for please. I’ll look at LLLParts catalogue and see what I can find.

For anyone else looking to do the same, I think an easier route would be to look for a tube from the same engine from a slightly earlier build, all the V6 single turbo engines are  mechanically identical (or so I’ve been told by a number of specialists for my MY [2015]), it’s how I got a dipstick for mine, I looked at the items list for a 2012/2013 model.

Ive been using ‘LLLParts’, who use a fairly comprehensive an online illustrated parts catalogue.
you can search by year too, which made it easier.

Ha I am receiving email notifications lesson learnt Gmail now has a few labels in the in box like important, promotions etc I have set this site now as important so I shouldn't miss anything when asking for help , For Audi A4 A6 Engine Dipstick Funnel Insert Guide Locator 06B103663 is the part my partner order as its her car,  this part push on and seals perfectly I had to bend the top bracket very slightly as a location on the tube is to wide  it is loose on the bracket so just a simple cable tie did the job, might sound a bit of a bodge but it works.

Ah, there’s 2 engine variants (96kw & 110kw) they have different dipstick tubes.

part numbers LLL give for those engines are;

(110kw) dipstick tube is 06D 103 634,

96kw dipstick tube is the one you’d been given - 06D 103 663

it’ shows as a short tube that fits onto a ‘funnel’ (bottom half of dipstick tube).
