Cathy T Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Hi all, having a disaster with my car right now. I have a 2013 Audi a1 and the drivers side footwell is drownded wet including the back. The passenger side completely dry.No mechanic is getting back to me so seeing if anyone else has had this problem and found the answer. I have cleared out the tray in bonnet no water there, i dont have a sunroof, seals on door are fine and no leaking from the windscreen. The leak seems to be coming in low as seats and doors are never wet.聽 I took up the carpet from the back and there was some cracks i filled with silicone, since then i havent drove it on wet roads just dry vac it and still gets wet the next day. the a/c has all just been serviced and everything there is working fine. Does anyone please have a suggestion on what this could be as I want to get it sorted ASAP Thanks 馃檪聽
thatukguy_james Posted June 8 Posted June 8 when there is a leak in the foot-wells i always look at wiring plugs that go into the engine bay. common on some cars is where people ran amps via a hole and water from the bay drops down them get some bottles of water, get someone to sit in the car and start to pull water around places to see where it coming from
Dave Mccraw Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Hi, I've been having issues with water getting into my daughter's A1 on the passenger side. I've tried everything suggested here including checking and cleaning drains etc, i tried putting water directly down the drains etc and have discovered water is only visibly getting into the car when directing water into the channel between the windscreen and a-pillar 6" up from the bottom of the screen. I assume the screen seal is goosed and have started looking for quotes to remove refit etc. I can update later but thought this might help someone else.
Steve Q Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Have you checked the pollen filter housing or battery tray.聽
Dave Mccraw Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Hi Steve, yeh checked both, pollen filter is bone dry, even tried another member's suggestion of adding to the "channel" above the air intake to the filter...no difference ! As I say, it's only when hosing (slowly) the gap between the windscreen and a-pillar. Thanks though聽
Thommo Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Hi did you get anywhere with finding the water leak as got the same problem on my Mums A1. Stripped all the drivers side carpet and trim off. Seems to be leaking just above the bonnet release lever between the seam of the join but can鈥檛 seem to trace where it comes from on the outside.聽
Dave Mccraw Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Hi Thommo, not 100% there yet though I'm fairly certain it's a leaking windscreen, it's going into a garage this week and they're gonna check with a smoke machine to see if we can confirm 100%.
Cathy T Posted September 15 Author Posted September 15 Hi everyone, I got the car sorted - it was the corner of windscreen when pressed it popped straight out on the driver side so whenever it rained water was getting in but going through door panel and soaking the footwell that way. Even when holding a hose at windscreen you wouldn鈥檛 see any water getting in. Mechanic said it鈥檚 very common with A1s聽
Dave Mccraw Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Hi all, just had a smoke test done. It now doesn't appear to be the windscreen leaking, I've attached a video. Below the scuttle on the passenger side on the bulkhead tucked right back near the dash, there's factory sealant (I guess sealing a bung), it looks like the sealant has a hole/failed. I'm now gonna apply sealant around it, fingers crossed that solves it but I'll update. 20240928_093953.mp4 聽 聽
