Gearbox in my A3 had been notchey  since purchase. Dawned on me today this is no longer the case. I may still carry out a gear oil change. Shouldn’t temp fate but I do like a free fix 🤔😁

You're lucky. I'd still recommend a gearbox oil change to be on the safe side

The pessimist within me does not believe mechanical faults fix themselves. I would investigate further before feeling lucky.

it was notchy with the need to sometimes try a couple of times to get first and third to select… and now it isn’t. What exactly can be investigated 🤔😂I’m not about to start pulling things apart when everything is working as it should 😉

As you wish, but I'd be concerned that the gear change links or the clutch release lever are loose.
