Hi

Can anyone help, cant find a solution to this anywhere?

We bought our Q7 about a month ago and the dashboard display showed the current speed electronically as well as on the speedo. I must have fiddled with the settings somehow but now I cannot get it back to displaying the current speed. I have tried the onboard computer MMI settings but doesnt change it

Any ideas please?

Also seem to be having issues starting the car in the morning. We turn the key on and wait for the glowplug sign to go out, then start it, but it just turns over and over draining the battery. If we stop and re try it does the same, then third try usually starts but then belts out a big cloud of white smoke!...dont think thats a good sign. Any ideas folks?

Hi and Welcome to the club

Sounds like the glow plugs are not getting hot enough, does it run uk when it starts?

I would like to say the smoke could be normal but is it white or grey smoke? If you lft it for 1 hour does it start ok and does it belch smoke after one hour?

it seems fine most of the day, its aleays first thing. the glow plug light goes out agter a few seconds, but what we are now doing is leaving it for about 10 seconds after putting the key in before starting, then it starts.

The smoke is pure white, it only happens if we cant start the car, clear the rest of the time

Thanks for replying!

Sorry if i'm a bit late with this but only joined today..

If you want the Digital Speed back on the centre readout you have to use the Reset button on the Windscreen Wiper stalk ... (marked Reset) this button is used to cycle thro' the display and if you hold it for a few seconds it will reset everything back to Zero.. in functions 1 & 2 .. ie. it resets the average fuel consumption readout back to 0.00 etc:

Hope this helps.. but like you have problems starting this 3ltr TDI in the mornings so will place on a seperate post in the hope someone has an idea..

Cheers
