Sidmouth Mike Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Might anyone be able to help with some advice please? Bought an approved used A3 from Oxford Audi (Marshalls) in October 2023. Within days of purchase noted slight clunking at the front over bumps and took it into Marshalls Audi Exeter. They could not hear anything and said all underneath was fine. Suggested bring it back if it gets worse as that's often easier to diagnose then. Took it back this week to Marshalls Audi Exeter (1/5/24) and was told on the day that the suspension hitting bump stops, needs a mod will get the part then book it in. Next day email from Marshalls Audi Exeter changing tune to say "There is a TPI relating to this: 2040584/16 which states 'the rear elastomer bush of the transverse link on the front axle has kidney- shaped slits. When driving on uneven roads this can cause noises due to relative movements in the elastomer bush. ' The repair for this is to remove the transverse link and apply lithium grease to the slits. This isn't covered under the used warranty they have, and the cost for the repair and the investigation comes to £544.42." Is lithium grease really going to achieve anything? Are Audi just trying to avoid cost of replacing the bush? Thanks - Mike
Steve Q Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I'd definitely recommend a second opinion on this. Alternatively contact Audi customer services 1
