PaulZ Posted May 9 Posted May 9 Hi All, My first post so apologies if I miss anything protocol related. I've recently purchased a new forged engine for my 8P S3 and plan to start the rebuild shortly. I'm planning on aiming for the 500BHP mark as I currently had the original engine stage 2+ mapped with the necessary external components uprated. I'm working through the ancillaries that I need to upgrade but I am stuck on the clutch selection. I originally had a SACH 450 clutch installed but know it will not be up to the job of handling the additional power gains I am aiming for, and I need to consider the majority of my driving will be road use. Can anyone recommend a performance clutch that can handle this sort of BHP and be user friendly for the road (handle plenty of stop/start traffic queue scenarios)? Thanks PaulZ
Steve Q Posted May 10 Posted May 10 Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 These guys are supposed to be good: https://clutch-specialists.co.uk/ Or you could try darkside developments, appreciate they mainly specialise in diesels though. Don't forget to look at sach. Will you fit a new duel mass flywheel at the same time?
PaulZ Posted May 11 Author Posted May 11 Hi Steve, Thanks for the feedback, I will pick up with them next week. I do plan to fit a new flywheel at the same time, and I'm sure the list of things I need to do is endless. A quick further question (that may be stupid), as the engine is newly forged and I want to ensure this is done properly, should I be looking to uprate the gaskets that are required for the final assembly? Thanks PaulZ
Steve Q Posted May 11 Posted May 11 You're welcome 🙂 Not a daft question at all. If it were mine I'd change any gaskets whilst the parts a disassembled. You wouldn't want any leaks after you put it back together.
