Merro97 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 Hi all, new here so apologies if I do anything wrong. My A4 B8.5 S-Line CVT started making a whining noise around 6 weeks ago but not sure exactly when as the wife drives it usually and she never noticed it. There is a slight whine when idle that gets worse as the revs increase. Really hoping it isn’t related to the transmission in any way. I was thinking possibly the alternator failing or something to do with the belt? I’m rubbish with this stuff though. Wondering if anyone has any ideas before I take it into the shop? I’d be really thankful for any input on this. Vid of noise is linked: https://youtu.be/vil177hzwNk?si=YbEEo970Yh2D81Av Thank you all.
coaconi Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Hey, I have exact same noise. Did you find what issue is, or someone know what is problem?
cliffcoggin Posted September 1 Posted September 1 It sounds like a worn bearing. Slacken the belt and feel for loose bearings on the alternator, idler pulley, and everything else the belt comes into contact with.
