Gilbert Fudpucker Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 This was started by MrBoe back in September but I seem to potentially have a similar problem in that if I turn the key straight away to start my 3ltr TDI it cranks for several seconds before firing .. however if I deliberately wait until the glowplug light goes out it fires up almost straightaway Yesterday I left the ignition on for a few minutes before I got around to starting the engine and it cranked and cranked to a point where I thought i would flatten the battery before starting but it got there in the end .. no smoke of any colour and regularly main dealer serviced so it's looked after My worry is that at +8 degrees yesterday morning what problems am I going to have when its -10 degrees with a foot of snow ..?? Anyone any ideas Cheers Gilbert
mark Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 You should only crank it after the pre-warmers have been on and the dash light has extinguished.
