Newbie71 Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Due to test drive 1yr old A4 Technik and a 3 Yr old S Line in next few days, more or less same price. Although of an age where prefer a comfortable drive I do love the S line styling and a bit apprehensive that I'm going to end up going for the S Line and then constantly grumble about ride being too firm. Probably 50/50 city / motorway driving. What's your thoughts ?
Magnet Posted June 6 Posted June 6 Welcome Frank, and thanks for joining. You will hopefully get other views to help you make your decision. I must admit that I am not basing my comments on personal experience, but on that gained by an elderly friend, who was totally disappointed with the ride comfort of a newish S Line - chosen by his children - due to its ‘look’. I think, but I’m not certain, that Audi seem to link the attractive specifications and ‘toys’ with the S Line, so if you want these attractive features then you have to ‘put up with’ the harsher ride quality. It’s worth examining these cars in terms of possible low profile, possibly XL load rated tyres often associated with larger wheels, which further aggravate the ride quality. Technik? Sorry Frank - no knowledge. Does this all boil down to style vs ride quality -as you think? I feel it likely does, so the decision has to be made to go with which of these two is most important to you. Please remember that this is a one-person opinion, but possibly includes a couple of pointers to guide your options while you await other advice. Good luck and kind regards, Gareth. 1 1

Technik was a grand bus, but just a bit boring. Technik sat on 17" wheels and was very comfortable. S-Line sits on 19" wheels and while firmer, isn't uncomfortable. Though if you're doing a lot of town driving, you may experience a lot more pot-holes. Might be worth asking the dealer if you can fit 17" alloys to the S-Line. Calipers should clear the inner surface of the alloy barrel, but always worth checking. 1
icstm Posted June 10 Posted June 10 We have B9.5 S-line on 19" wheels (A5 mind you). Yes it is firm but looks amazing and I think I notice the ride more than my wife. The flat bottom wheel etc. also look great. 1
steviewevie Posted August 24 Posted August 24 I have a Technik trim with the comfort & sound pack which adds most options I wound want. The only missing thing I have found is the lack of comfort headrests and the inability to adjust the angle of the seat base.
