Hi, sorry another new member here and sorry for being so confused and asking a question which I am sure others have already! I have a 2009 2.0TFSI and its done 72k miles and I am trying to work out whether it needs a timing chain? change, I seemed to have been given differing answers!

many thanks

Hi Jimbo 8

My main experiance as a mechanic is from working on BMWs which the majority of their engines use chain drive, the general rule with their engines is that the chain is good for 300 + thousand miles unless servicing has been neglected or the car has been driven like it were stolen from day one  .

I will look on Elsa Win later for you, but I very much doubt there is any need to be concerned with the chain on your motor.

Ensure you change the oil at the intervals required and you should have problem free motoring for many years to come.
