niko0011 Posted June 23 Posted June 23 when ever i press the accelerator i get this odd rattle sound from underneed the car it only happes as i step back on the pedal then goes away (propably 1-2 seconds) this does not happen when moving off or when i rev the engine stationary only happesn when actually driving around. Not sure if its normal can anyone tell me what that noise is. thank you!
cliffcoggin Posted June 23 Posted June 23 No it's not normal. The chances are that the rattle is caused by the exhaust is hitting the underside of the car, which in turn could mean that the engine mounting rubbers are soft or broken. Grab the exhaust pipe when it is cold and shake it hard to see if you can reproduce the noise. To test the engine mounts you need to lever against them with a crowbar, or get an assistant to let the clutch bite gently while you watch the engine. It should go without saying that both handbrake and footbrake should be firmly applied during the test.

Magnet Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Link doesn’t work for me. Diagnosing noises without having the car to examine is very much a black art, and falls under the heading of guessing! I suggest you book this in with a trusted local independent - without delay. Kind regards, Gareth.
