I have a knocking / grinding noise coming from the drivers side of my 2017 A4. Took it to Audi main dealer who I paid for a diagnosis & they undertook the work. Was told it was the suspension arms / buses and anti roll bar buses. Spent £1250. When I collected the car they said they could hear a new noise and as a courtesy would have another look in a couple of weeks. It isn’t a new noise at all, it’s exactly the same noise it was making when I took it to them. The car had recently had a service & mot & suspension didn’t come up.
Any ideas what this noise could be? They said could be bolts in the sub frame, however I’m not feeling confident and really concerned I’m going to be hit by another big cost. Have I got any comeback with the garage? I feel the suspension could have been changed earlier than necessary. Car only has 65k on clock.

thanks

Cath.

The dealer's incompetance in diagnosing and rectifying the fault is surpassed only by his audacity in offering further work as a courtesy. In my estimation he should be resolving the fault without further charge, but can you now trust him?

I would take the car elsewhere for another opinion on what is wrong with it before further discussion with your dealer.

Thanks for reply Cliff. This is the issue - if they suggest it’s something else, how can I be sure. I specifically chose a main dealer as they are the specialists. The £1250 so far really stretched us as an unplanned expense, and it’s not resolved. I can only hope they are reasonable and acknowledge they’ve got it wrong.

You can not be sure, which is why you need an alternative opinion from somebody you do trust. Do you or an aquaintance know of a Audi specialist who can be trusted, preferably an independant specialist rather than an Audi dealer?

I can recommend such an independant company in Biddenden, Kent if you are prepared to travel that far.

Thank you for this suggestion. I will research it.
