GR92 Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Hi all, I'm sure this question has been asked many many times but I can't seem to find my exact problem. I bought my Audi A3 8V (2015) a week ago, however there is no navigation media with the car. No DVD and no SD-Card. Navigation IS enabled on this car but again, I don't have any navigation media. What is my best option? I've tried downloading map files etc but my car doesn't even recognise there's an SD-Card plugged in let alone try to access the files. I've looked at buying a Nav DVD from eBay but all the sellers mention "dealer update required" but if my car is already Nav Enabled then do I still need that? Honestly considering just stumping 250-350£ on a CarPlay retrofit... Thanks in advance GR
Magnet Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Hello GR ( can you help us by letting us know if you omitted to enter your proper mane on the Profile, or you did, and it hasn’t shown-?) Welcome. Perhaps a couple of points to consider:- If you bought the car from a dealer, and it is fitted with Sat Nav ( as you confirm) then it is the dealer’s responsibility to ensure it works - unless you accepted it in knowledge that it wasn’t. Before considering to any alternative costly options, it might be worth buying a new reasonable quality SD card. Kind regards, Gareth.
GR92 Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 Thanks for the reply, I created an account using Google so don't think I was given the option to enter my actual first name? It just came up asking me for my display name, happy to change if you could point me in the right direction. My assumption is Nav is enabled as when I go to the Nav section of the MMI it says "11 sattelites found, insert navigation media" or something to the tune of that. From my research if Nav isn't enabled then it will tell you that when trying to access it? I didn't actually check if Nav worked before I bought the car (my fault, I know). I have a 128GB "SDXC" card that I've been trying to use, I formatted it in FAT32 and partitioned it into a 64GB partition as research also shows the MMI doesn't like partitions larger than that. Does anyone have a location I could download the compatible maps from? MyAudi just always shows "failed to load map download data".. Thanks again
Steve Q Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Sounds like the car definitely should have nav. I'd recommend speaking to the supplying dealer about it not working 1
ACNA Posted November 1 Posted November 1 I had the same scenario and was not happy. I made the dealer pay for a Carlinkit box with CarPlay (the one around $300) and I installed it behind the dash via the glovebox. Wireless CarPlay, works well, Google Maps from my iPhone, stream Amazon music daily as well. I like it and is much better than what you would get with updated NAV SD as cell/wireless services were cut from our models in 2022. This was it is real-time NAV, music, YouTube, etc on your screen, hidden, seamless, OEM look and feel. I am happy with it and have been using it since bought in 2022.
