Hi all,

I have just joined the Audi owners forum having bought a C7 2018 Audi A7 Avant...which I'm loving

Unfortunately, there were no manuals/books inside at all. I was wondering how many books/manuals should be included and which ones are they?

There are a number of these on eBay, but have no idea if they are complete, or if I'll need to buy more/others. Could someone enlighten me with which manuals/books should have come with the car and if possible, list these so I know which ones I'll have to get?

Thanks so much for all your help in advance....I'd live to get my car completely up to spec.

Cheers

Welcome Kevin and thanks for joining.

I don’t think the absence of the handbook pack in your car is an isolated occurrence, and seems to be not unheard of, particularly with ex lease cars, where the company leasing them can tend to hold them at their offices etc.

Simple way around this is to pay a visit to your local dealer’s Parts Dept. and have a chat about what the pack should include.  Make a list, then scan eBay and confirm what, if anything, is missing from that particular listing.
To supplement that knowledge, someone on here will hopefully come up with a response from you.

Would any/all/most A6 (of appropriate age) owners please reply to Kevin’s question - thanks.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

p.s. Worth searching eBay for a copy of the appropriate sales brochure.

We take it you have requested copy of the computerised service history -? Also asked for copies of invoices -? The dealer should supply them, having blanked out owner details.

Hi Gareth

Thanks for getting back to me. I've scanned through eBay and can see different ads showing various books, but don't want to have 'doubles' and miss out on others. This is one such ad...as I say, I have no idea of this is the important ones or if there are others i should get or need? I look forward to your advice.

Many thanks again.

Thanks Kevin, but I’ve given the advice needed - go to your local main dealer and compile a list of what it comprised of. I think you are unlikely to find (and not miss) one set on eBay that is totally complete.

Way forward:-

Bid on a set which looks in good condition, and appears to have most of the books you would expect. Buy this, then take it to your dealer and purchase what they then tell you is missing.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks for your reply Gareth.

I think I'll go ahead and purchase what is available on eBay (as above) and email an Audi dealership to find out what else I need to complete the set. The nearest dealership is about 2 hours away (on a good day) so this gives me options then.

I can't believe the former keeper didn't leave the books inside...its not like they're going to need them now!

Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how things work out and what is missing above & beyond what I order on eBay

Take care and thanks again

Many thanks Kevin.
Reason for no books? - as said, probably ex lease, and driver probably just wasn’t interested.
Did you manage to acquire copies of the service history?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi Gareth

The car was privately owned by former keeper, so I'm likely buying the books for sale on eBay!! LOL There is no printed service history, but there is history on the on-board computer. I know it just had a major service with all the major elements sorted (including belts, water pump and gearbox service etc)

Thanks Kevin,

You can request ( via an e-Mail to the dealer) a print out of the on-line service history - well worth having as hard copy for your file.

I also request copies of service invoices - they can supply these with previous owner details blanked out. There is nothing like having hard copies of evidence of full service history.

We take it you didn’t buy it from a main dealer Kevin-?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hi Gareth

I bought it from my mechanic. He deals in used cars also. I've been using his garage for all my maintenance for 20 years+ and he's always steered me right with all my previous cars, so I trust him implicitly.

I'll take a look through the online service history and see what details I can find and take it from there.

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Take care

Kevin.

I know there are people printing and binding PDFs of car handbooks, because I had to get one for my wife's car. They are available in A5 and A4 format. Unfortunately I can not find the company details any more, so do your own internet search.

Her Skoda Yeti was suppied with an immaculate pristine uncreased handbook...  with the pages bound in the wrong order, making it unusable. A replacement was not available from VAG so we had to find an alternative.

Hi Cliff

Thanks for the message. I'm hoping to get something in keeping with the car itself...add to its authenticity. If/when there are any books I can't get/find, I'll keep your suggestion in mind.

Take care

Thanks fellas for all your help. I ordered original books from a guy online and they arrived yesterday. They look the business and are in an original holder also. Now I'll be able to look things up on an original manual, and if/when I get a printout of previous history for the car, I'll enclose these with the warranty book.

Cheers fellas
