Hi all, my name is Neil and i am new to this site.

I have just bought a 2014 Q5 S Line +, the only problem i have so far is that when when ever i set off and get above 10 mph it sounds like the central locking is locking then unlocking, or the other way round and this happens everytime i stop.

Is this normal?

Thankyou in advance

Welcome Neil, and thanks for joining.
It sounds as if it’s trying to lock the car, as it should do with the ‘drive away’ locking- or whatever it is called - whereby the vehicle locks itself at speeds above an arbitrary 8mph.
Not sure, but my initial stab at it would be a suspect driver door lock - hopefully others might be more specific for you.
All in all, it sounds like getting it plugged in for faults, and/or the need for the services of an auto electrician.
Perhaps you could keep us posted Neil.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks for that Gareth, I have changed the drivers lock yesterday thinking that would solve it but it hasn't.

I will.get it plugged in and see it that shows anything.

Thankyou again

Did the new lock have an integral switch, or did you attach the old switch.

The other thing to look at is the wiring between door and pillar. The wires had a habit of breaking in the older A3s.

Neil.

I imagine that has all the necessary connections. The next step is to inspect and test the wiring harness to the door.

Hi Cliff,

I will have a look at that this weekend and see if anything stands out to me.

Thankyou for you help.
