maramessi Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Hi everyone Started getting rear light / fog light warning, tried to put a new bulb in and it made no difference. I'm now getting reverse light and brake light warnings for the same side. Note when I did open the compartment first time around there was moisture in it and very little water came out. Also I've attached photo of what I've seen on the connector. Can this be cleaned etc? Or bigger job? Thanks in advance folks.
cliffcoggin Posted September 12 Posted September 12 David. You have nothing to lose by trying to clean the connector with fine abrasive and contact cleaner fluid, because the alternative is a new light unit. Make sure you also cure the water ingress or it will happen again.
maramessi Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 I got some cleaner in it and it seemed that when I put the cover back on it looked like the bulb was working as it looked like there was a reaction but it doesn't glow. Just a very dim red light. Any suggestions on next step? I did also notice the foam around the inside of the cover was out of position so I can glue that back into place.
cliffcoggin Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Better start saving for a new light unit, or try your luck at https://www.thepartfinder.co.uk/
maramessi Posted September 14 Author Posted September 14 A new unit? The unit is surely okay and it's the connector that needs replaced, maybe?
cliffcoggin Posted September 14 Posted September 14 Who knows? Water can create electrical faults that are invisible.

cliffcoggin Posted September 15 Posted September 15 There are two types of foam structure: open cell which is permeable, and closed cell which is impermeable. I assume the lamp unit seal is or should be closed cell. Don't be surprised if the electrical fault is permanent.
