Audi A6 saloon 2014 automatic gearbox; the message pops up when driving “Gearbox malfunction you can continue driving” . Brought it over to the mechanic and the code is P171E00 - Transmission Input speed (RPM) Sensor 2 - No signal. My mechanic doesn’t fix gearboxes and the other ones I called are only going to replace the TCU for a hefty price. Just wondering if anyone had any similar experience. Car did kind of almost stop the other day at the light when I tried to move and suddenly jumped and reversed up itself. Now it’s gone and pops up every so often. I was told the car can stop suddenly?? As it is what I’m being quoted is around €1000 minimum to €3000 (Ireland) for TCU replacement. (165000km on the car; gearbox service done on 160000 km).
