ChrisMant92 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 IV just bought my first ever Audi and classic. My Dad had one over 20 years ago and I thought I would follow in his footsteps. Drove 10 hours up north to sunny Scotland and gave me no problems on the way. Hope to get it running more smoothly for next summer. Does anyone have any advice on owning, driving and maintaining one? I'm a car guy but not overly confident when it comes to tinkering with cars mechanically. It's a Audi 80 16v 2.0. Thanks Chris 3
coupe4 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 welcome to the forum, lovely car,ive the same model for the last 9 years so feel free to ask any questions and ill help if i can.Greg 1
ChrisMant92 Posted October 3 Author Posted October 3 Thanks Greg, I appreciate that. Have you had any minor or major issues with yours in that 9 years? Chris
coupe4 Posted October 4 Posted October 4 hi chris, the only issue ive had really is water getting into the rear light fittings, which is a common fault on these, replacement bulb holders are getting very scarce too so check yours for corrosion and see what condition theyre in,make sure the waterdrains on both sides of the boot are clear of any dirt, this will allow rain water to flow away rather than sit in the boot rubber and seep into the taillight cluster.Greg
ChrisMant92 Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 Okay Greg, if I get a chance this weekend il definitely have a look at that. Thanks Chris
Chris James Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Hi Chris, Lovely car Chris, I've always really liked their shape and i think the colour really suits it. I've never owned one so don't know of any unique issues with the model, but I can see that Greg has given you some things to check. Enjoy your ownership and I hope it proves reliable for you. Chris.
ChrisMant92 Posted October 4 Author Posted October 4 Yeah I'm very pleased with it and can't believe how much car you get for your money with them. Thank you Chris
