Spitfire Parks Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Hi all, in July i purchased an Audi a5 2011 2.0 tfsi. My first audi car. As ive heard how reliable they are. 2 issues. Oil in the coolant. White and creamy around expansion reservoir cap and neck of tank. No water in the engine. Oil cap clean inside. Put on new expansion bottle today and G12 coolant to see if it was just in the old tank from a pervious problem . But after driving 10 miles new tank starting to go black inside. Any suggestions where to look for oil leak appreciated. 2nd issue. A pinging noise and a yellow cog on dash staying gearbox malfunction and you can continue driving. This happened 3 miles down the road. From collecting car. Then after a few miles goes off. Does this almost every time i drive it. Sometimes a few times. Sometimes as i start the car. Car drives fine. Any ideas. Or experience in this appreciated. Thankyou

Thankyou Hi everyone thinks head gasket, the usual culprit is the oil cooler a rather snazzy little device that normally sits below the oil filter housing, it is a box that allows water and oil to circulate around each other through different channels so the oil cools, problem is the gasket fails and allows the two to mix, fairly cheap fix just a bit fiddly and requires a coolant flush after to get rid of the oil in the system, Vauxhalls are notorious for it, done a few of them, gearbox fault will require a diagnostic scan to reveal what's going on. Spitfire Parks Posted October 8 Author Posted October 8 Hi Steve, Thankyou for your reply. Much appreciated. I will replace the gasket. And get the car scanned. Cheers. Shaun 1
