I’m confused as to how this car is ULEZ compliant?

From what I can tell it’s a Euro 4 with no ad-blu fitted but is still ULEZ exempt…

How so am I missing something here?

Hi the bit you are missing is the registration number which would allow any potential purchaser to check its eligibility on the ULEZ website, as far as I am aware its only diesels that meet euro 6 requirements which would definitely involve Adblue  and SCR

Steve.

Clearly marked as euro 4 with no ad-blu but still shows as ULEZ exempt on website…

How so still confused as this is 2010 car…

I will be doubtful it's compliant as it's diesel. I think it's a8 D4 facelifts with the 4.2 that's exempt. A petrol d3 you'd have a better chance.

Understand Steve but it’s coming up on the Ulez website as exempt(see above)

& seller is selling it as such…

sorry to go on but don’t understand how this is so…

Just a thought - last V5 was issued on this cherished plate on 11 June 2024, so has the ULEZ site been updated from its compliance in terms of the vehicle it was ( in caps) on prior to 11/6/24?
If compliance is important to you, then I would seriously take its current compliance as incorrect, until you get written confirmation from those who dictate these things, and not what the seller says.
As an aside, it seriously likes tyres if you look at the MOT history.
Let us know how you get on Adam.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Has it got a private plate? Or has it been imported from Japan or elsewhere?

Private plates don't show up properly on tfl. I'm 95% certain it won't be compliant.

To prove it you'll have to contact VW for a certificate of conformity.

Deffo not import…

I am no fishmonger but I smell something fishy…

In my humble opinion…

My gripe is how can a 2010 4.2 diesel

qualify for exemption?

and I have checked all others on that year currently for sale & they do not qualify…

I have heard & this is second hand confirmation that if you adjust certain documents (cough cough wink wink) erm you can get this exempt…

Don’t quote me on above please…

So is its current registration ADY 422D?
If so, that was first issued in 1966, so obviously being used as a cherished plate.
Repeating:- Contact the ULEZ controllers. Why the protracted WW route?

‘I smell something fishy…’

Simple resolution Adam - just make a decision not to buy it.
Why all the procrastination and is it/isn’t it?
Decision time!
Kind regards,

Gareth.

So I understand you’re saying once it goes on actual number plate it won’t qualify any more…

is that correct?

Thanks

So I’ve tried to input the original plate on car & it’s come up with above…

so I guess that’s that…

Maybe the seller is not aware of above…

I shall contact him & give him the benefit of the doubt…

Also his power output was not correct so advised him & he has also corrected that…

Fair play to him…

End of story then Adam, and was to do with changes of number plates as was suggested.
I’ll let you claim it was solved by yourself!
