Johnnysteel Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Hi! I recently had a minor front end prang and now the car only starts with the bonnet open then cuts out when I close it? Any ideas please??
Steve Q Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. Sby warning lights on the dash? Anything in the engine bay dislodged that could be getting squashed when bonnet is closed?
Johnnysteel Posted October 23 Author Posted October 23 The only warning lights are oil sensor (which turns off by itself) and the one associated with the damaged headlight, which I’ve just replaced. It’s going in to get diagnosed next week I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t just a sensor issue I could sort out before it starts costing too much!
Steve Q Posted October 24 Posted October 24 As it's been caused due to an accident I'd recommend getting it checked over anyway. I wonder if a crash sensor can cut the engine?

Johnnysteel Posted October 24 Author Posted October 24 It has to be some kind of sensor connected to the bonnet? With the bonnet closed it won’t turn over, with the bonnet open it starts but then cuts out when u close it
cliffcoggin Posted October 24 Posted October 24 I believe there is a bonnet switch that prevents the wipers from working, though how that might affect engine ignition I have no idea.
