EdA4 Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I needed a cheap automatic to get me through knee surgery, so bought a 2004 A4 B6 saloon and am very pleasantly surprised by it. Its surprisingly quick and the handling is remarkably good. My regular car is a chipped 2010 Skoda Superb 170 bhp 4x4, but amazingly the A4 feels quicker and more sure footed. I know I've got the 1.9Tdi, and I think its the Multi-tronic box, but beyond that I don't know what I've got: I assume its the 130 bhp model, (but how would I know?), and I gather there was a Sport version (but how would I know?). It wasn't quite a "One lady owner" car, but nothing to suggest its been tweaked. The VIN is WAUZZZ8EX5A078334. Any thoughts please? Are these a seriously underrated car, or have I got something a bit out of the ordinary? Thanks
Steve Q Posted October 28 Posted October 28 They're lovely cars. It'll be either 130 or 163bp. Check service history on when gearbox was last serviced as this is the Achilles heal in the mechanicals. Looks to be se spec. But if you contact Audi they should be able to provide you a build sheet.
EdA4 Posted October 28 Author Posted October 28 Ha! I changed the ATF last week - bit of a faff having to pump it in from the bottom but the hesitancy under acceleration has gone. Also changed the EGR valve which was absolutely full of crud. Had to vacuum the inlet manifold after sugar lump size lump of carbon dislodged by my fingers fell into it! Running very sweetly now.
